The Muddy Season

Today is March 14th, 2021 and the snowpack from the winter is slowly melting away. There is still snow in the shade or where piles were made, by humans or blowing winds. We doubled our garlic production this year, and if the garlic works well, we will double garlic production again for 2022. We grew too many squash, so we are focusing on pumpkins. The raspberries were heavily pruned last year, and for that reason had a late start. This season the raspberries should be strong. We are growing our chicken flock back to size, and we will once again have eggs available. Once the ground thaws we will clean up some piles of wood from fallen trees as well as projects gone awry. After that, it is time to remove the rocks from the fields that continually rise from the soil.
